Welcome to our new CEO

We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Amma’s inaugural CEO, Maree Aldam. The appointment of a CEO marks an important milestone for Amma, as we set our sights on opportunities for growth.

Maree has nearly 20 years’ experience of working in the third sector in Scotland, having worked with organisations that tackle homelessness, poverty and marginalisation. She is currently CEO of the International Network of Street Papers (INSP) – a Glasgow-based NGO that leads and develops a network of 90+ social enterprise organisations (including The Big Issue magazine) in 35 countries worldwide.

Maree is also a trustee of A Moment’s Peace – a theatre company that focuses on social justice, activism and community engagement. She lives in Glasgow and is a mum of two young children.

Maree says, “I am beyond delighted to be joining Amma. Throughout my career, I have been involved in work that supports and provides opportunities to vulnerable and marginalised people, and I have always been passionate about women’s rights and reproductive rights. The more I get to know the organisation, the more inspired I am by what has been achieved so far and the incredible impact on the lives of vulnerable women and birthing people. I recently completed Amma’s birth and postnatal companion training, so I have experienced first-hand the passion, expertise and brilliance of Amma’s volunteers and staff. I’m honoured to be joining such an incredible group of people.”

Maree’s official start date is April 12, 2022.  We are excited to welcome Maree to the team and have no doubt she will provide Amma with excellent leadership.
