Over 20 mums travelled from across Glasgow to Balloch Park today for Amma’s yearly family trip, making the most of a rare sunny day.
Isolation is one of the challenges new mums face, and it’s often the small, practical things, like the cost of a train fare or the unfamiliarity of a new journey, that can stop mums from getting out and about.
For many of the mums joining us at Balloch, it was their first time travelling by train. So, as always, we made sure transport wasn’t a barrier to joining us by reimbursing ticket fares.
The little ones had the best time running through the park, while the mums got a chance to relax and enjoy some time together. There was even a wee karaoke session, along with plenty of games, thanks to our wonderful peer supporters and staff for organising it all.
Add in lunch, snacks, and glorious sunshine, and it was a day to remember.
Groups like Amma Family create a community where parents can come together, build friendships, and feel less alone.
