Amma wins Charity of the Year at the 2026 Scottish Charity Awards

June 11, 2026

We are proud to share that Amma Birth Companions has been named Charity of the Year (Large) at the 2026 Scottish Charity Awards.

The award recognises the impact of our work supporting women and families across Glasgow during pregnancy, birth and early parenthood, and celebrates the dedication of the staff, volunteers, partners and supporters who make that work possible every day.

Founded seven years ago, Amma was created with a simple but powerful vision: that no woman or birthing person should have to face pregnancy, birth or parenthood alone. Since then, we have grown into a community of companionship and support, working alongside parents who may be facing isolation, poverty, language barriers, insecure immigration status or other challenges.

Many of the women we support are new to Scotland, and many are seeking sanctuary. Through our volunteer companionship programmes, peer support groups and advocacy work, we work to create spaces where they feel welcomed, connected and supported.

Receiving this award is an important milestone for Amma, and it also comes at a time when maternity services across Scotland are facing increasing pressures. We know these challenges often affect the women we support most acutely, and we remain committed to advocating for more equitable and compassionate maternity care.

This recognition reflects the commitment of our staff team, volunteers, trustees, funders, partners and supporters.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners, and especially to our fellow finalists With You and The Big House Multibank. We were honoured to be recognised alongside so many organisations working to strengthen communities across Scotland.
